Research Ethics

WWB-Area | Learning field

Research Management | Fundamentals

Starting Point

Research practices – irrespective of the discipline – follow ethical principles, norms and standards that are either of personal nature or defined by the research institution and its community. In this course, we will explore variations and diversity in values, principles and moral standards as they relate to the research topics of the participants. What aspects in academia and research are prone to ethical dilemma? We will look at hiring and promotion practices, the research workflow, the publishing process and discuss what is still acceptable for the sake of research and where moral boundaries are required.
