Health Insurance Documentation

  • By law, students are required to have health insurance in Germany
  • All participants are therefore required to take out an health insurance policy that covers them from their first day in Germany
  • Students from EU countries are advised to bring their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for the duration of the TU Berlin Summer University program
  • Students are responsible for organizing their own health insurance

*The AOK (Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse) is a public German health insurance company that has worked with the TU Berlin for many years. They check if your home or international health insurance is sufficient for German standards, and then issue an exemption certificate to confirm that this is the case. This saves you having to take out insurance with a German public insurance agency. The service is essential for your enrollment at the University, is free of charge, and can be provided to you in English. Please fill in the downloadable form below and submit it with the rest of your application.

For this purpose, the following documents are required:

5.4 Copy of your passport. We will send this to AOK*

5.5 Copy of your international health insurance policy

5.6 A completed and signed copy of this AOK form (PDF, 495,7 KB) OR, your European Health Insurance Card, if you are from a European Economic Area country or Switzerland. Please note on the AOK form that "date of enrollment" is the first day of the Summer University: June 12th 2017 (even if your course starts on one of our other dates this Summer)

6. Cultural Program

  • Your course fee covers costs of the cultural program such as museum entry and tour guides
  • In addition, we offer one-day guided visits to the beautiful East German cities of Dresden or Leipzig, as optional extra excursions. The price for each trip is 70€, which covers transportation and tourist attractions. More details will be available once registrations open
  • Please select which (if any) of these options you would like to participate in during the registration process
