The world energy development currently is facing challenges of resource constraints, environment pollution and climate change. China proposed to establish Global Energy Interconnection, or GEI, based on Ultra High Voltage (UHV) technology innovation and breakthroughs, to facilitate world energy transition and sustainable development of mankind. This proposal has been highly recognized and positively responded by the international community. GEI refers to a globally interconnected strong and smart grid with UHV grids as the backbone, an infrastructure platform on which clean energy can be massively developed, transmitted and utilized worldwide.
In this lecture, Prof. Liu will introduce and highlight the latest development of UHV power grid in China, and elaborate on the concept, implication and prospects of GEI. During the lecture, the most cutting-edge findings of GEI-related researches will be shared and discussed as well.
The lecture will be simultaneously translated from Chinese into German.
