TU Berlin in the German Centre for Research and Innovation São Paulo

As part of its internationalization activities, TU Berlin is seeking to establish a stronger presence in Latin America and to intensify the particularly successful collaboration with partners in Brazil. TU Berlin has been actively involved in the German Centre for Research and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH São Paulo) as an associate member since 2018. In this context, vice president Prof. Dr. Angel Ittel visited the DWIH São Paulo in summer 2017 to meet with the team there as well as representatives of the various member institutes.

TU Berlin’s commitment in São Paulo benefits from a long-standing cooperation with FU Berlin. The partners jointly organize events such as presentations of Berlin as a science hub, recruitment workshops and networking events to bring together regional partners. Strengthening TU Berlin’s presence in São Paulo also creates an excellent opportunity for researchers from all over Latin America, while providing TU Berlin researchers with the chance to receive detailed information and advice concerning cooperation and financing opportunities relevant to their own areas of interest.

The DWIH model was developed as part of the internationalization policy of the German Federal Foreign Office (AA) and the Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and envisages Germany as a centre of research represented at five strategic locations worldwide, providing a forum for international scientific cooperation. DWIH-SP has been acting as an umbrella organization since 2009, seeking to strengthen synergies between Brazilian and German stakeholders from the areas of education, research and science, thus consolidating more than 40 years of research cooperation between the two countries.
