FAPESP publishes call for Tandem Groups of researchers from São Paulo State and Max Plank Institutes

FAPESP (Funding Agency of São Paulo State) and the Max Plank Gesellschaft published the second call for their Joint Research Group Program within the framework of the existing cooperation agreement between both organizations.  

The program aims to establish independent research groups connected to universities and research institutes of São Paulo State, working closely together with scientists of one of the 84 Max Plank Institutes in Germany. 

Highly qualified junior researchers of all nationalities with at least two years of PostDoc experience outside Brazil are invited to apply to the program. The recent call focuses on astronomy, chemistry, physics, geosciences, mathematics, computer sciences, engineering sciences, medicine, humanities and cognitive sciences.

Proposals must follow the regulations of FAPESP program “Programa Jovens Pesquisadores em Centros Emergentes” and must be coordinated by a leading researcher of a Max Plank Institute.

Research and Development Projects between Germany and Brazil for SMEs

The German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the collaboration between Research Institutes and small or medium sized enterprises (SME) in Germany and Brazil in the framework of the EUREKA program.

The call is focused on the topics of plant phenotyping, plant cultivation, industrial use of plant-based waste materials, biological crop protection as well as on raw materials of strategic economic importance. 

Founded are projects, which results contribute to market-effective innovation with huge market potential in Germany, Brazil and Europe. The funded project should reflect contributions of all partners from all countries involved. 

Entitled to apply are SMEs with permanent business establishment in Germany fulfilling the preconditions and funding purposes of the program. Higher Education Institutes, Research Institutes and others conducting research within the project may be funded as project partners.

Call for Proposals for Joint Research and Development (R&D) Projects between German and Brazilian Companies

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Brazilian Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services published a call for proposals for joint R&D projects between German and Brazilian companies focusing on developing innovative products, technology based services, processes or methods in all technological and application areas which have strong market potential. Deadline for proposal submissions is May 31, 2018.

The participation of at least one Brazilian company, of any size, and one Small or Medium sized Enterprise (SME) from Germany is mandatory. Research institutes and other companies may participate as partners or subcontractors in the cooperation project, respecting the financing rules of each country. The proposal should result in the development of an improved or new product, process or service intended for commercialization in domestic and/or global markets.

The new product / process / service should be innovative, have relevant market potential,

technological risk and add value to the economies of both countries.

New funding phase of the FAPESP’s SPRINT program

Project applications can be submitted until 30 April for the current fourth funding phase of SPRINT (São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration). The program aims to strengthen cooperation between researchers located in São Paulo and leading international institutes as well as support long-term cooperation on joint projects. 

The main focus of the current call is funding for mobility for cooperation projects with ten selected institutes in the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Netherlands, United Kingdom, China and Germany. Researchers with contacts to other institutes may, however, also apply.
