Information on applications for investments

The faculty offers an annual budget for investments like major acquisitions for the maintenance of the subject areas‘ technical infrastructure, for the realization of research projects, or for improvements in teaching. Investments can be single devices or systems of associated individual components (non-divisible measure).

The investment budget of the faculty won’t be spent on consumptional expenditures (e.g. office supplies) or IT basic equipment for staff members (computers, laptops, monitors).

Applications for investments have to be filed in the dean’s office of Faculty I by February 28 each year for the respective budget year. The required equipment or devices have to be named on the application and a list with the single components including a bid must be attached. We also need an explanation letter about the use and the function of the desired object and about your choice of provider (not more than 200 words). The ‘Information and communication committee’ (German: IuK-Kommission) of the faculty gives advice on filling out the applications and prepares a proposition for the resource allocation for the faculty board.

P.S. In the budget management law, investments count as expenses from a total of 5.000€ - these expenses are billed on the Ausgabetitel 81279/81289. Expenses that don’t reach this amount don’t get billed on the Investitionstitel but can still be handed in as investment application. The former method of departments having to unite?? (zusammenschließen) with the applications to not exceed the total of 5.000€ is out of date.
