Going Abroad

Encouraging mobility

International research teams and dual degree programs promote mobility for both students and staff members

TU Berlin maintains a dense international network, which represents a great advantage for TU students, teachers, researchers and graduates alike. Students profit directly from such intensive cooperation: tuition and other fees are often waived and university credits can be transferred, which gives our students the opportunity to gain valuable experience from a semester abroad, without having to prolong their period of study at TU Berlin. We also provide support to TU instructors and professors who wish to teach abroad, while international TU alumni return to their home countries and form their own networks there.

Student Exchanges

TU Berlin cooperates with more than 200 institutions of higher education all over the world. Exchange programs have been developed in the context of such collaborative undertakingsthat make it easy for TU students to study abroad. Please contact the Section for Student Mobility & International Students for all questions related to studying or obtaining a doctorate abroad; our Career Service Office is responsible for arranging internships in other countries.

TUB Scientists

Persons interested in scientific exchange programs should contact our International Scientific Cooperation section. International Scientific Cooperation can help you make contacts with institutions in other countries, provides information about financial support in identifying suitable international projects and offers a number of services that can help you to organize your own personal stay abroad.

TUB Administrative Staff

Under the slogan "I'm off then!" Vice-President Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel encourages aministrative employees and technical staff to apply for training visits at one of our partner universities. In the long term, the staff mobility initiative will help strengthen the internationality of the University.

International TUB Alumni

Through its Alumni Program, TU Berlin maintains contact with around 34,600 former students, staff and guest researchers in 139 countries around the world. International alumni can participate in specialist and training seminars in Berlin and abroad. They can also actively support their alma mater by joining one of the international Alumni Clubs.

Preparing your stay abroad

Our University Medical Service will advise you on how to stay healthy during your stay in a foreign country. The TU Berlin’s Modern Language Center offers a broad range of language courses for students who need to gain a deeper understanding of languages they will be need for their stays abroad.
