The TU Berlin supports its researchers in putting innovative concepts into practice, to protect and make use of them. Through numerous projects, it promotes the founding of new companies from within the university. Many start-up companies originating from the TU Berlin serve as a motor for the regional job market and give an additional boost to the transfer of knowledge and technology. To a limited extent, the TU Berlin invests in projects with the private sector in order to advance the transfer of knowledge and technology.

Centre for Entrepreneuership

TU Berlin combines expertise from research, education and start-up support. Thus a start-up one-stop shop is established: the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CfE). Here all stakeholders concerning entrepreneurship meet in a highly developed network, may it be curious members of university, alumni founders, teachers, investors, business angels and others. Strengthening the start-up eco-system of TU Berlin is the main focus of CfE. The CfE access the huge potential of seven faculties to develop and form start-up ideas, start-up teams and start-up mentality within technological and  knowledge based fundaments. Hands-on courses and classes concerning self-employment, start-up days, speeches and workshops as well as distinct consultation are well established tools to develop entrepreneurial thinking and acting. CfE’s activities are scientifically grounded and all tools are up to date.

Contract Management and Patents

The collaboration with other universities, research institutions and industry requires contractual agreements in order to regulate important aspects such as knowledge transfer. For this reason, the Center for Intellectual Property will negotiate contracts in close consultation with the researchers involved in order to achieve results that take all interests into account. Contracts are signed by the office in fulfillment of statutory legal provisions.

Business Relations

At our Office for Business Relations, you will find colleagues who will support you to jointly shape the future of research and science with us. We are interested in your proposals and the communicative exchange with you, and of course we are open to new ideas.

Corporate Investments

The TU Berlin holds shares in corporations, joint business partnerships and other legally autonomous businesses, or founds its own spin-off companies, especially when this is the most efficient means to fulfill the legal task of promoting the transfer of knowledge and technology.
