Overview

The 2022 summer program will be published soon!

Participants will get introduced to current major themes in innovation and entrepreneurship, including human-centred design and innovation eco-systems - specifically the dynamic startup eco-system in Berlin. This practical course will guide participants to create new valued products, services or experiences, from idea generation trough to business concept development and testing.

This course is suitable for undergraduate and graduate students as well as professionals from any discipline who wish to develop an entrepreneurial and user-centered mindset in multidisciplinary teams.

Learning Goals & Syllabus

Learning Goals:

By the end of the course, students will have:

  • A good understanding of the human-centered design and innovation process to develop new products, services or experiences.
  • The ability to systematically explore, create and modify business-driven ideas.
  • The ability to validate assumptions and test prototypes.
  • An understanding of the innovation and business creation eco-system.
  • The ability to transform new ideas into valuable solutions considering their impact.
  • Leadership, team building, and managerial creativity competencies to work in and lead interdisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to present a concept in a pitch format.

 

Course Structure:

Reading week: June 28th - July 2nd, 2021. Flexible, 5 hours preparatory work to be done on-demand.

Online course: July 5th - July 16th, 2021. Estimated session times are Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 2 pm CET for live lectures and group sessions, etc.

Please note this is a full-time, intensive course. Weeks 1 and 2 will involve approximately 30 hours of workload.

You may find the syllabus useful when discussing with your home university whether the ECTS credits attainable for this course are accepted by them.

 

Course components

    The key components of the course are:

    • Overview of Berlin’s innovation, start-up and entrepreneurship eco-system.
    • Engagement with innovation & entrepreneurship experts and exchange around key topics in entrepreneurship.
    • Individual and Group coaching
    • Team projects and presentations
    • Hands-on experimentation and feedback
    • Lectures in form of short input sessions

    Target Audience

    This course is designed for current university students, working professionals and any individuals with an interest in furthering their knowledge and skills in organizational leadership and entrepreneurship.

    Participants from all fields and disciplines are welcome.

    Prerequisites and Technical Requirements

    Participants of the TU Berlin Summer & Winter University must meet the following requirements: (i) B2 level English, or equivalent and (ii) at least one year of university experience. Working professionals are also welcome to take part in the program.

    Technical Requirements

    We will ask participants to fulfill the following technical requirements:

    • Fully functional device (laptop, tablet, PC)
    • Stable internet connection
    • Software: Zoom (App installed on desktop or over browser. Participants are requested to use their real name as zoom account name)
    • Recommended: external headset for better sound quality

    Lecturer(s)

    Klaus G. Kammermeier creates and conducts immersive and collaborative learning and innovation experiences. He is a sought- after trainer, mentor, and speaker on innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation for organisations, teams, and leaders. He is the founder and managing director of Cyoneer GmbH and InnovationLabs.Berlin, where he is pioneering an evolutionary organisation to successfully build new ventures. Klaus develops new open innovation formats, one of which is NanoLabs®.

    For more than 15 years, he led - in technical and commercial leadership positions for Corning Inc. - multi-functional global high-performance teams in the US, Europe, and Asia, to provide groundbreaking innovations. He lived for over 10 years in the UK and in the US and managed and led over 250 innovation initiatives and programs.

    Klaus studied Engineering, Economics, and Management at Munich University of Applied Sciences, completed 'Global Leadership 2020' at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and executive education at Columbia University Business School, New York City, USA. During the last few years, he has coached over 150 founders and startups and supported various research programs including the Fraunhofer Institute. Klaus teaches master students in diverse fields including Space Engineering (TU Berlin), Innovation Management (Grenoble Ecole de Management), Creativity (Glion Higher Institute of Education) and StartupLabs for Creative Industries (SRH Berlin School of Popular Arts). He is an active mentor in various national and international mentorship programs like the Founder Institute and he develops mentorship programs and trains mentors.

    Registration for this course has now closed.

    Course fees for Innovation and Entrepreneurship are as follows:

    Student: 720 Euro

    Working professional/Non-student: 1120 Euro

    The early bird discount is available for all participants until April 1st 2021.

    Please note that students will be required to upload proof of their student status (student card/ enrollment information) during the registration process.
