Who is behind that survey?

The Technische Universität Berlin conducts the graduate survey together with around 70 other higher education institutions in Germany. The International Center for Higher Education Research (INCHER) at the University of Kassel is in charge of this project. The project is being financed by the universities, after receiving funds from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the starting phase.

Who can participate in the survey?

All former students of the Technische Universität Berlin are being invited to participate in the survey ca. 1.5 years after graduation. Next round will start in autumn 2017 and will interview alumni who graduated between October 1st, 2015 und September 30th, 2016. Please note that only these persons may take part in the survey.

I have received an invitation – why should I take part?

By participating in the survey you support the continuous advancement of your former study course. You are giving valuable information about your perception of the conditions of study and the usefulness of the study program with regard to your current occupation to your former faculty. The dean of studies gets the results for the study program he or she supervises. The study commission reflects these results, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the study program and developing measures for its improvement. For this process to work, it is essential that enough graduates take part in the survey. We therefore kindly ask you to participate.

How does the internet survey work?

As soon as you have received the invitation letter containing your code, you can log into the questionnaire on the “Login” page and start answering the questions. You can also find the direct link to the questionnaire on your invitation letter. You can exit the questionnaire at any time and continue answering the questions at a later date.

How long does it take to complete the questionnaire?

It usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete the questionnaire. We acknowledge that completing the questionnaire is time-consuming, however, we kindly ask you to participate in the survey and help your former study course with your feedback.

What happens if I am interrupted in the middle of the questionnaire?

In the online version you can save your entries after each section and continue filling in the answers later. We would kindly request you to complete the entire questionnaire after any interruptions so that the data can be analysed properly.

What happens to my answers if I take part in the survey?

Your answers will be stored at the University of Kassel. The collected data is transferred to the Technische Universität Berlin in an anonymous form and is analyzed here. We annually publish the results on these web pages

Do I remain anonymous if I take part in the survey?

Of course only anonymized data is being published or forwarded to the dean of studies. Your answers will only be presented in aggregated form, i.e. using statistical methods based on a larger number of respondents. The Technische Universität Berlin assures that it will not try to identify survey respondents in any kind of way. Further information is available on the Data Protection page.
