Project
The interdisciplinary research project DynASS (Dynamic Arrangements of Urban Security Culture) explores the complex structure of the production of security in urban environments. The research focus lies on the production of so called “Security Images” which are considered as crucial for the feeling of security of a city's citizens and by that for the quality of living in a community.
The project's goal is to examine which actors, information sources and social and technical technologies shape the “Security Images” of city dwellers to develop tools and advice to improve co-operative urban security production.
To accomplish these goals, the project consortium analyzes scientific reports, handbooks for and by practitioners and decision makers, local and national media, etc. Furthermore, expert interviews as well as interviews with local actors in three city case studies are conducted and analyzed.
