Project Description

The aim of the project is to develop a concrete business model for a Multi-Energy System (MES) Aggregator, which bundles spatially disaggregated energy capacities and offering them for system services in the energy market. Through MES, the coupling of the power, heating/cooling and transport sector (electric vehicles) on household / building level is possible. As a result, the capacities of small-scale spatially distributed green power plants can be used more effectively. This will make investments more attractive. By bringing decentralized MES electricity storage capacities to the control power market, the aggregator can generate earnings resulting in lower average electricity costs on the side of the MES (household, company). These savings have a positive effect on the TCO of possible MES subsystems (electric vehicles, power to heat/cooling devices, stationary batteries, PV units) and make investments in GHG-friendly technology more. Moreover, the market participation of the aggregator will help to stabilize the grid and to reduce negative impacts as grid congestions caused by electricity consumption and production peaks and is important for Distribution and Transmission System Operators.
