Project description
BioVal develops solutions to reduce negative impacts on biodiversity from food production along the product life chain. In cooperation with several food producing companies, it is investigated how they can contribute to the promotion of biodiversity along product life chains and how they can anchor this in their management as well as communicate it to the public.
At ZTG, societal values on biodiversity regarding food production are being researched as part of the project. The aim is to analyse societal values on biodiversity in Germany as well as the awareness of the links between food production and biodiversity in different societal groups.
Relevant questions in this context are:
- What are the values and attitudes on the importance of food production for biodiversity among different groups of actors?
- How can the findings on normative values on biodiversity with a focus on food production be incorporated into the assessment of different forms of land use?
- How can the findings on attitudes and behavioural intentions of consumers in the context of biodiversity be used for corporate communication in the food sector?
- Methodologically, a document analysis, a representative consumer survey and focus groups with consumers will be applied.
In order to ensure the quality of the transdisciplinary research process and the integration of knowledge in an ideal way, the ZTG will accompany the project by conducting a formative evaluation. In this context, criteria and indicators for measuring the achievement of objectives and the effectiveness of BioVal will be developed. The methods used reflect the state-of-the-art of the literature on impact assessment of transdisciplinary sustainability research.
