In KIS'M, an AI-based system for networked mobility is being tested that meets the challenges of autonomous, driverless and on-demand operation in dynamically growing service areas. Of particular importance are user-centric implementation, seamless networking in the future mobility system, and a socially accepted vision of the mobility of tomorrow.
The implementation of driverless on-demand transportation on the innovation campus "Urban Tech Republic" (UTR) and the adjacent public road land is to be carried out in consideration of the new StVG. Suitable human-machine interactions of the technical supervision, at the virtual stop and in the vehicles are to be developed and the safety and flow of the traffic is to be improved by the networking of automated vehicles also in a mixed system. For this purpose, autonomously executed cooperative driving maneuvers and bidirectional V2I communication for an on-demand green wave will be tested in the test field, for example, and the AI-based derivation of static and dynamic traffic information as well as the identification and management of virtual stops for on-demand traffic will be further developed.
Subproject of the ZTG: User-centered integrated technology development
The user-centered integrated technology development of the overall system, with attention to the ELSI criteria (ethical, legal, and social implications), is being conducted under the leadership of the ZTG, with the software-based involvement of all project partners and relevant stakeholder groups. Requirements for and assessments of technologies will be participatively queried and linked from the different perspectives in the concrete application context. Potential conflicts are identified, moderated and recommendations for action are developed.
Furthermore, the ZTG surveys and investigates the acceptance of users and non-users during the journey with automated and connected vehicles (AVF) and in the AVF mobility system.
In the corresponding work package, the project partners will develop suitable concepts for human-machine interaction in the control center, in the vehicle and during the changeover in a human-centered and iterative manner. The prerequisites for technical supervision according to the StVG amendment and for passenger guidance at the virtual stop and in the vehicles will be determined and the interaction between passengers and the technical supervision will be made tangible in a prototype simulation (by DLR).
In parallel, based on previous and new experiences in this project, the investigation of scaling possibilities of the application areas and the development of rollout strategy will be carried out (by eMO).
Within the scope of the project, the following questions are to be answered, among others:
- What are the requirements for an AVF offering?
- How can the offerings be designed to be user-centric?
- How can a control center be designed human-centered for technical supervision
