Transdisciplinary research addresses complex problems of everyday life by closely interlinking science and practice throughout the entire research process. Relevant actors are involved and integrative methods are applied in order to jointly build up problem-related knowledge and develop solutions. The effects that transdisciplinary research projects have in social and scientific contexts and can potentially achieve are correspondingly diverse and far-reaching.

Against the background of the increasing relevance of the transdisciplinary research principle, the growing community, and the very different approaches, "tdAcademy" promotes that knowledge about transdisciplinarity be brought together, systematized, reflected, and deepened. The common understanding and reflection between transdisciplinary researchers is just as much in focus as the increased visibility of the network and the development of suitable mediation offerings on transdisciplinary research for the extended community of academia and practice. In addition to personal networking meetings, the online platform td-academy.org forms a hub so that the community can actively meet and inform each other.

Within the project, research at the ZTG focuses on a better understanding of how social effects of transdisciplinary research projects can be strengthened and followed up. "tdAcademy" builds on the findings of the project "TransImpact - Effective transdisciplinary research", in which the ZTG has already been significantly involved.
