Dipl. Soz. Uta Böhm

Uta Böhm studied social sciences at the Humboldt University Berlin. Her studies focused on empirical research methods, educational sociology and sociology of aging. Her professional work has been grounded in socio-scientific technology and educational research.
From 1998 to 2009, Mrs. Böhm worked as research fellow at the Berlin Institute for Social Research (BIS). She worked on several projects concerned with user requirements for innovative technical products and services, for example Smart Home applications for private households. Whilst working at BIS, she was a member of the interdisciplinary research group "sentha" funded by the German Research Foundation. Mrs. Boehm was responsible for investigations into the need for assistance for the elderly and the socio-scientific evaluation of technical developments to support self-sufficient lifestyles for the elderly and people whose mobility is reduced. From 2009 to 2016, Uta Böhm worked at the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) and at the Humboldt University. In research projects funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Hans-Böckler-Foundation, she investigated measures to improve the quality of higher education teaching and working conditions of university staff members.
Since 2017, Uta Böhm works at the Centre Technology and Society on the ‘ENGITO’ project. In cooperation with the Mechanical and Systems Engineering Department, TU Berlin, she analyses organisational, institutional and behavioural barriers in the implementation of energy saving measures in non-residential buildings in Berlin.
