Dr. Benjamin Hennchen

Benjamin Hennchen has been a research associate in the transdisciplinary project "Social cohesion, food and health: Inclusive food system transitions" since February 2021. His research is dedicated to food systems with a particular focus on issues of health and social cohesion. Previously, he worked as a research assistant in the project "Municipal Food Systems as Key to Comprehensive-Integrative Sustainability Governance – KERNiG" at the University of Freiburg. During that time, he completed his PhD thesis on the topic “Food systems as fields of knowledge and practice". He studied Sociology at the University of Freiburg and Sociology as well as Political Science at the University of Mainz. His interests are in the areas of environmental sociology and transdisciplinary research with a particular focus on practice theories, food service, local food initiatives, food policies, and issues of knowledge integration.
