Sabine Hielscher is interested in the politics, processes and materializations of grassroots innovations and the dynamics of everyday (sustainable) consumption patterns, particularly the relationship between people and technologies. Analysis tends to be interdisciplinary, drawing upon theoretical frameworks from variety of disciplines, but especially social practice theory and transition theory. Sabine has made use of a variety of qualitative research methods (such as in-depth interviews, evocative interviews, creative design workshops, participant observations and focus groups) and has been employed on research projects with different organizations (such as BMBF, AHRC, EPSRC and RCUK Energy Programme).
Research Interests:
- Sustainable Consumption
- Grassroots Innovation
- Human-Machine Interaction
- STS, Practice Theories, Sustainability Transitions
