Dr.-Ing. Somaiyeh Falahat
until 2014 at the ZTG
Somaiyeh Falahat has a background in architecture and urban planning. She worked as a teaching and research assistant in the field of urban theory to the chair of Theory of Architecture in the Technical University of Brandenburg, where she conducted her PhD thesis entitled “Islamic Cities and the Question of Labyrinthinity: Towards a New Terminology in Urban Morphology”.
She has published in a number of refereed journals including Planning Perspectives, International Journal of Architectural Research, International Journal of Urban Sustainable Development and Urban History.
At the Center for Technology and Society (ZTG) she has been leading the international exchange project Participatory Urban Regeneration, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since March 2013, beside her main engagement at the chair of International Urbanism and Design-Habitat Unit (TU berlin) as senior researcher and lecturer. This project aims at re-conceptualising the community-based urban regeneration actions at the neighbourhood scale in four cities: Berlin, Cairo, Istanbul and Tehran.
