Prof. Dr. Dr. Martina Schäfer
Martina Schäfer studied biology at the University Stuttgart-Hohenheim and has completed PhDs in environmental technology and sociology at TU Berlin. Since 2010 she has been working as Scientific Director of the ZTG at the TU Berlin. She began her career at the ZTG in 1996 and has been carrying out and coordinating numerous inter- and transdisciplinary research projects in the area of sustainability research from that point up to the present. Her research interests are Sustainable Regional Development, Sustainable Consumption, Sustainable Land Use and methods of inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation. From 2008 until 2014 she was a member of the Federal government of Brandenburg’s Scientific Sustainability Council. From 2015-2019, she was a scientific expert in the Enquete Commission of the State of Brandenburg "Future of Rural Regions against the Background of Demographic Change". She is currently a scientific expert in the Future Circle, which advises the BMBF in the current foresight process (https://www.bmbf.de/de/mit-foresight-in-die-zukunft-schauen-930.html).
